Ninth grade primary school students in the town of Roudnice and their choice of the further course of education

The aim of the thesis entitled Ninth grade primary school students in the town of Roudnice and their choice of the further course of education is to describe the factors that influence one's course of education, especially the choice of upper secondary educational institutions they decide to study, and empirically map this issue within the town of Roudnice. The theoretical part is divided into chapters according to factors that significantly influence students' choice of educational institutions during the ninth year of primary school. These factors are following: socio-economic background, family and gender, as well as psychological and developmental aspects of adolescence, during which the choice of a secondary school tends to be realized. These categories are then introduced through Czech and foreign researches. We also look at the transition between the lower and upper secondary education in terms of legislation and career counselling. The main part of the thesis is the empirical part, which includes a detailed description of our quantitative research and data analysis. The Family Influence over Choosing an Occupation of Elementary School Pupils

RESUME The times based on one individual's decision about which school to study to be able to choose further continuous and smooth career path has been over. As a result of current global and local social changes everybody should be prepared to the every possible change in career. Nevertheless the first choice of career is still an important milestone and can direct the individual career, but it is not the only key milestone, that determines the individual career once and for ever. People in contemporary world should be able to respond quickly to constant changes, evaluate new situations and be able to make the right decisions. The widespread myth is that success means to raise money as quickly as possible to guarantee the freedom and happiness. But a real success is a contented life, which is a long way over such values as for example certainty that we are doing the work that we like and which fills us with satisfaction. Individual goal is to focus on the abilities and skills so that the decision directs to such a career path where one will be able to optimally exploit one's potential in a future career. In the beginning of a career path a family as a primary socializing agent and the closest partner institution in the life of the pupil should fulfil its role in close cooperation with the school that...

The bachelor thesis deals with factors affecting the choice of a high school for Romani pupils. The theoretical part defines the Romani nationality, characteristics of the Romani culture and a Romani pupil. Furthermore it describes the choice of a high school and relevant defined terms as choice of occupation and choice of further educational carrier. The given problematics includes results of several surveys made in the past. Factors affecting the pupil while choosing a high school and a given field of study follow from these surveys. The main aim of the theoretical part is to show the factors, which affect the pupil of the primary school while choosing the high school and in which way. Methods used to draw up the theoretical part are: study of special literal sources, pedagogic journals, creation of excerpts and their analysis, comparison any synthesis. The main aim of the practical part is to map factors affecting on the Romani pupils of primary schools while choosing the further educational carrier and in which way. Semi-structured interview with five informants is a method applied to draw up the practical part. Purposive sampling on typical cases is used. Informants are pupils of the ninth class of the primary schools, which take part in the project Tutoring in the Museum of Romani Culture. Data from interviews are evaluated by means of the open coding.

Bachelor thesis is focused on factors influencing career choice of high school students. Thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. In the theoretical part of this thesis the main terms will be defined, the main knowledge connected to the theme of bachelor thesis will be summarized and subsequently compared with previous surveys. The influence connected to the career choice topic of social environment will be described and roles of each element will be defined. The goal of the practical part of this thesis is to find out the level of influence of each element of the social environment and the level of help that students received during decision making process. The answer to the question if the students decide to continue in their studies or they plan to enter the labour market will be ascertained. As a method the questionnaire will be used. This questionnaire will be distributed into two high schools in Olomouc region and the results will be evaluated with use of statistical methods.
Gender analysis of Civics textbooks (in relation to choice of profession)

The goal of this master's thesis "Gender analysis of textbooks" (in relation to choice of profession) is to introduce a gender analysis of three textbooks "Civics Education" used in the 8th grade of primary schools. I focus on presence of gender stereotypes and gender prejudice that could influence a choice of further education of schoolboys and schoolgirls and therefore their choice of future profession. In the thesis I consider the general education system as one of the crucial socialization tool of the society. It represents an institution that keeps power to maintain gender stereotypes and at the same time has got the power to change them. I examine illustrations and texts of mentioned textbooks through gender optics, and using qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Comparison of professional aspirations of freshmen and seniors on multiyear gymnasia

This bachelor thesis deals with the professional orientation of students on gymnasiums in Prague, specifically those in the third year and those in the final year. They are analyzed separately but the main focus is on comparison. The main sources of data are quantitative surveys conducted each on one of the age groups. The questionnaire was created based on information from literature, which provided a theoretical foundation for the thesis and represents a substantial part of it, and from data gathered by two qualitative interviews. Their short analysis is part of the thesis too. The survey pointed out some important differences regarding the observed aspects of professional orientation between the two age groups. These aspects are gender, family, school hobbies, media, ideals and aspirations. The survey confirmed a more developed professional orientation of the older students.

This bachelor thesis is focused on sources of career information in process of choosing further courses of education or professional career used by vocational school pupils. In the theoretical section main terms are explained, the situation of graduates vocational school is described and sources of career information and career information are identified. In the empirical section the results of the quantitative survey are quoted. The goal of the thesis is to describe, which career information are the most important and which sources of career information are used by vocational school pupils within the process of choosing a further courses of education or professional career.
